Montrose Hole #3

What a great hole. Big dip before the green, followed by a wide and beautifully set green. 140 yards and a 20mph downwind.

The teeing ground to the right of the second hole was not in use. I assume b/c of erosion issues. Instead, both the yellow and white tees were to the left of the second green.

A bit of research and help from Golf Club Atlas shows that the sand scrape, before the dip and the green, has not always been there.

Here is a side-by-side. 2022 on the left, no sand scrape, and no left tee box. 

On the right is a more recent image (Google Earth undated). 

I wonder if the sand scrape was the result of taking out a dune. And was that work done in-house or advised by someone? 

For what it's worth. I found it to be a good-looking hole and fun tee shot. Considering that the right tee is on the ocean, and therefore has an implicit wow factor, this is a decent alternative.
